ABOUT Hampta Pass with Chandertal
OVERVIEW
Hampta Pass trek is giving each adventure lover an option to discover the unique landscape on the Manali side in Himachal Pradesh. From the top, you will witness the magnificent view of a different world below, the beautiful yet deserted Lahaul.
About the Hampta Pass Trek:
The Hampta Pass trek has the starting point as Manali. From Manali, you will be taken to Jobra and then to Chika located at a height of about 10,100 feet. The route will have plenty of greenery, River Rani and the mountainous stretches on one side. When you climb up to reach Balu ka Ghera from Chika, On this impressive journey catch the first glimpses of the mighty towers in Dhauladhar Ranges occupy the entire frame with meadows and flower-filled valleys. What awaits you next are the gradual slopes until you reach the mighty Hampta Pass and on the way, Hampta Village will be your host for some time. Discover the serene calmness that surrounds the valley.
The ultimate destination of the trek is the beautiful Chandratal located amidst the pristine surroundings dominated by the white peaks and clouds above. A confluence of three paths – Hampta Pass, Spiti, and Rohtang Pass and the green paradise will accompany you to achieve the height of about 14,100ft.
DAY – WISE ITINERARY
- Arrival at Manali Base Camp in the morning.
- The group will assemble where briefing session will be provided by the trek leader.
- After that we will head towards Jobra Village, where the trek starts. The drive is scenic and 2 hours long.
- After relaxing for a while, we will start our trek to Chika.
- The initial trek is through the pine forest until we reach the Rani river valley. The entire trail is flat and mild uphill and it passes through the valley along the Rani river. We reach our campsite maximum by late afternoon and relax.
- We will set up camp in Chika followed by Dinner & Stay overnight.
Note: The pick-up point would be 17th Miles Manali (tentative). If you arrive in Manali, one day before, it would help your body adapt better to the altitude and weather.
- After having breakfast, we will start our journey from Jobra to Balu ka Ghera (named so because of the bear terrain), as it is the hibernating place for bears in winters.
- The trek will again be full of challenges and panoramic views with gradual ascents and descents and a flat walk after river crossing to reach the campsite.and streams and experience the blossoming of nature.
- After Reaching Balu ka Ghera, we will set camp among the mountains beyond which the Hampta pass awaits us.
- Followed by Dinner and spend a night under millions of stars.
- After breakfast, we will head towards our next campsite which is Sia Goru., we can aim to leave the campsite by 7 am as the journey ahead is long and somewhat tiring.
- It will be a very adventurous day as we reach the highest altitude today at Hampta Pass (14,100ft).and we can see a variety of flowers all along the way. We will go from Balu Ka Ghera to Sia Goru, which is at an altitude of 12,900 feet.
- The initial trail is an gradual ascent which will leads you to a slope of boulders and rough terrain.
- It will take about 4-5 hours to reach Hampta Pass (14,000 feet), and from there it will take a few more hours to descend to Sia Goru.
- There will be a steep slope to reach the Sia Goru camp site, where you will enjoy a beautiful sunset from Hanuman Tibba peak.
- After Reaching, we will set camp for the night and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
- Followed by Dinner and overnight stay in Sia Goru.
- Today we are heading towards Chatru, and often this is the place that will offer us the most breathtaking and unforgettable views of the valleys of Lahaul and Spiti.
- The trek is easiest of all previous days as we have to descend all the way to Chattru it will takes around 3hrs.
- Chatru is the focal point of three places, namely Hampta Pass, Rohtang Pass and Spiti Valley. This part of the trek will be followed by a jeep ride to Chandratal, which is believed to be the place from where the greatest Pandava Yudhishthira ascended to heaven.
- Once we reach Chatru, we'll drive towards Chandratal which is a beautiful lake located 45 kilometers away from the campsite. However, the drive would only be possible if the weather permits as the harsh weather conditions could be a hindrance.
- We'll head back to Chatru where we will set up base camp. The path will be slippery on this day.
- Dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay in Chattru
- Post breakfast, we will start our return journey and drive from Chatru to Manali. The scenic drive consists of mesmerizing views of majestic mountains with the Chandra river flowing by. You also get to traverse through the Atal Tunnel which itself makes the drive extremely rewarding.
- Reach Manali by Late afternoon and board your bus to Delhi in the evening and overnight Journey to Delhi.
INCLUSION / EXCLUSION
Inclusion
- Accommodation: 4 Nights Accommodation on a triple sharing basis in Alpine or Dome Camps.
- Transportation: Surface transfer from Manali to Manali by Sumo/Bolero/Traveller.
- Meals: Meals will be simple and Vegitarian from Day 1st lunch to Day 5th breakfast. (Bed Tea,Breakfast,Lunch,Evening Tea & Snacks,Soup & Dinner)
- Trek Leader: Qualified and Experienced Trek leader and support staff.
- Permits: All necessary fees and permits.
- Trekking Equipment: Gaiters, Crampons(Spikes for shoes), and Rope if required.
- Safety Equipment: Basic First Aid kit with Oximeter and Oxygen Cylinder.
Exclusion
- 5% Gst
- Any expenses of personal nature.
- Meals during transit.
- Insurance of any kind.
- Any fees and permits (For Foreigners).
- Unscheduled delay due to a landslide.
- Cost Escalation due to “Force Majeure and Evacuation charges”.
- Anything not mentioned explicitly in the above program.

There may be a restriction on the no. of nights due to the peak season dates which will be advised at the time of booking.
You may be required to present a credit card or give a cash deposit to the hotel at the time of check in for Security purpose depending on hotel to hotel, City to City and Country to Country. The hotel will pre-authorize the credit card. And if cash is paid, the same will be refunded at the time of check out.
Any sightseeing missed due to natural calamities/weather conditions is non-refundable.

It is not advisable to travel in the night, if necessary, supplement charge applicable.
Gst, Airfare, Drinks, jeep safari, camel safari, parasailing, ATV, more … and any other thing not included in the cost.
SIC means Seat in Coach Services – You will be sharing the vehicle with other people so coach arrival can be flexible by 15minutes plus or minus. Your coach may also collect other passengers from various different hotels just like how you joined the coach and we request your patience and cooperation for the same. Pick up vehicle and final sightseeing vehicle may differ in certain countries and you may be expected to change the vehicle in certain countries. SIC transfers will be applicable only from 0700hrs – 2300hrs. If the flight arrives earlier or later than these timings, we will have to provide private transfers with an extra cost. (Conditions apply)
PVT means Private Services – You will not be sharing the vehicle with other people; it will be provided on point to pint service only – no disposal. Private transfer means a dedicated vehicle with OR without a guide, for a particular sightseeing or transfer. Private transfers are the most efficient way to travel. You will be taken directly to and from your accommodation without detour and without the need to change vehicles at any point. Private transfers do not mean a vehicle at disposal. Customers are required to strictly adhere to the timings fixed for the vehicle even in case of a private sightseeing or transfer.
Baggage Allowance – All transfers are based on travelers carrying a maximum of ONE Check in bag and ONE small handbag each. It is the responsibility of the customer to inform and check with us if they plan to carry extra luggage. Since the same may entail supplement charge for a larger vehicle. In case the guest chooses not to inform THE DP TOURS and arrive with extra luggage additional charges as applicable on the ground and subject to larger vehicle availability will be applicable.
For Traveling overseas, your passport should have a minimum validity of last 09-06 months from the date of exit from that country.
There should be sufficient pages in your passport for Visa/Immigration stamping.
Original passports must be in fine and good condition without any damage.
Required Visa documents to be provided by the traveler. Please note the decision to grant visa is solely held with the assigned visa consulate.
Once the package is booked, amendment/cancellation charges will be applicable
In case of any unprecedented hike in airfare, hotel charges or other service charges, the same will be levied extra.
We reserve the right to use an alternate accommodation or airfare of an equal or higher standard.
If we source a more expensive alternative, we reserve the right to re-quote based on the higher rates.
We are a tour operating company wherein we don’t do only Air Tickets and Visa, hence once the Visa is done it is mandatory to book hotel package through us.
The Visas for every booking will be submitted only after we have collected the 50% tour cost against the booking. We may ask for more payment on case-to-case basis and to cover the booking liabilities.
