Kedarnath Yatra Tour Package
OVERVIEW
Located on the Garhwal Himalayan range in Rudraprayag district of
Uttarakhand, Kedarnath is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in India. It is a part of the Char Dham Yatra and holds immense spiritual significance, being the most revered among the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level, the Kedarnath Temple stands against a majestic backdrop of snow-clad peaks and the Mandakini River flowing right in front. The temple, more than 1,000 years old, was originally built by the Pandavas and later reconstructed by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century A.D. The inner sanctum houses a conical-shaped Shiva Lingam and a statue of Nandi, with a ‘Garbh Graha’ for worship and a mandap for pilgrims.
Kedarnath is accessible via a 1620 km trek from Gaurikund and remains open from April to November. During winter, the idol of Lord Shiva is moved to Ukhimath for worship due to heavy snowfall.
